Academies@Englewood is finally ready to become a full high school. A total of 155 freshmen will be attending A@E next year, and we have invited them warmly during our 3rd annual Induction Ceremony.

People who attended the 2005 Induction Ceremony were even given a glimspe of A@E's musically-talented students. At the outside entrance of the auditorium, the Flute Ensemble was busy playing several pieces to entertain the arriving guests. And during the middle of the ceremony, the Jazz Band and Madrigal singers performed a total of five songs, all which received the audience's loud applauses. Under the guidance of Mrs. Sandy Meltzer, the Jazz Band was able to play two selections: La Negra Tiene Tumbao and Take the 'A' Train. The Madrigal singers (shown in the picture above) were the same students who participated in the Madrigal Dinner, and sang The Silver Swan, Weep, O Mine Eyes, and Fair Phylis

The Induction process went as follows:

  • the Bio-Medicine Academy students were individually called up first by Mrs. Clare Kennedy
  • next, the Finance Academy students were called up by Prinicpal James Smith
  • third were the Information Systems Academy students, who were called up by Mrs. Michele Farley
  • the Law and Public Safety Academy students were then called by Mrs. Roslyn Powell
  • finally, the Pre-Engineering Academy students were called up by Mr. Patrick Bernardo.

Everyone who attended the 2005 Induction Ceremony were given the opportunity to hear words of wisdom from the speakers that came to congradulate the upcoming freshmen. People that spoke in the Induction Ceremony were Carol Lisa, Steven Brown, Mayor Michael Wildes, sophmore Emily Zettler, PPA leader Kim Berlino, and A@E's Principal James Smith. They all welcomed the new freshmen, wishing them the best of luck and leaving them with a some good advice: put effort into your work to accomplish your A@E's goals.

-- "All successful people recognize opportunity when it knocks at their door." - Carol Lisa
-- "Mayors, governors, and presidents learn everyday, but they all start by sitting behind the desk.” - Michael Wildes

After the Induction Ceremony, all attendees were invited to go into the cafeteria for the reception. The cafeteria became filled with people, and for a good reason; the food was delicious.
