Topic of Internship

Mechanical/Safety Engineering

Background Information

During my year working as an intern at Mercedes-Benz USA, I worked on several projects that pertained mainly to safety engineering featured on the latest vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. This included, but was not limited to: creating model diagrams, taking exemplar photos, logistics tables, presentations, model research, and accompaniment with engineers to crash inspections. In addition to some hands on work, I also created spreadsheets and Powerpoint presentations that were used by engineers during crash investigations.

Summary of Internship

Though some projects at Mercedes-Benz USA were challenging they helped to teach me lessons that are not usually presented within the classroom. For example, I learned the inner workings of the safety systems of vehicles that are produced by Mercedes-Benz. In addition I also learned how to function properly, efficiently, responsibly, and courteously within a corporate setting. Moreover, I also learned necessary skills in programs that are an integral part in the business world: Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, etc. Lastly, working at Mercedes-Benz USA also showed me the techniques that many professionals, not exclusive to Mercedes-Benz, use within the engineering field.
