The Humane Society of New York is an animal hospital dedicated to care for animals in need. An day a customer is expected to recieve quality veterinary care for their animal at an affordable rate. As well as caring for other people's animals, the Humane Society is responsible for some of their own; an adoption center is available there. The HUmane Society donates 92.9% of the money they recieve from donations and gifts to program activities.
Summary of Internship
As an intern, I was expected to assist Dr. Rubinstein when in the exam room or Lee while in surgery. In the exam room, I learned how to make vaccinations, perform important tests such as heartworm and stool test as well as how to handle bloodwork. I also learned a bit about pharmaceutical medicines and which to use for what medical ailment or problem. In surgery, I witnessed many complicated procedures as well as routine procedures such as spay/neuters. In surgery, I learned how to monitor anesthesia and I assisted the doctors from time to time.
