Summary of Internship

I chose to intern in the Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Department at EHMC because one day I want to become a cardiac surgeon. This rare experience includes observing cardiac catheterizations, bypass surgery, and valve replacement surgery. In other words, I get to observe operations that only nursing students and medical students get to witness. I also have the privilege of bringing blood up to the operating room and sometimes handling surgical equipment to give to the surgical technician. I would recommend this internship to anyone who is interested in medicine, especially those who are interested in cardiology. The people at EHMC really try to help one look for an internship that they are interested within their hospital; therefore, the experiences are endless at EHMC.
