Background Information
Columbia records is a record label under Sony Entertainment. It is not the only label under Sony Entertainment. Other labels such as J Records and Epic Records are all under Sony Entertainment. Columbia Records works with all types of artists such as The Fray, Beyonce, Dixie Chicks, Frankie J, Collie Buddz, Monica, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Three 6 Mafia and much more. The company deals with all type of music as you can see ranging from reggae to R&B.
Summary of Internship
My internship deals with a lot of copy making, cd filing and packing cds in jiffies. I have my own desk which has a computer and a radio. If I am not at my desk listening to the radio or online then I am running an errand for one of my mentors or even just someone on my floor. One thing interesting that I’ve learned from my internship is how singles are sent out to radio stations. There are about one hundred single cds packed in these envelopes called jiffies with bubble wrap stuffed inside with the name of the artist, the company label and the title of the song. I also, check the payments of artists, like if their advertising payments have been paid or needs to be paid. My internship is a good experience, even if your future career doesn’t deal with the music industry.
