Topic of Internship
Secaucus Animal Hospital was founded in the late 1930s by Dr. Morris Ziskind. Dr. Ziskind graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1934 and moved to Secaucus to work with food animals and meat inspection. He later opened the first small animal hospital of its kind in the region on 1190 Paterson Plank Road. The practice moved to 1250 Paterson Plank Road, the current location, in the early 1940s. Dr. Philip Teitel purchased the practice in the 1960s after Dr. Ziskind retired. Many of our clients and staff had the pleasure of working with Dr. Teitel. Dr. Richard Brady took over the practice in November of 1996 when Dr. Teitel retired. Dr. Pinero joined the staff of Secaucus Animal Hospital as an associate in 2001. Dr. John Hatch bought the hospital in April of 2005. Secaucus Animal Hospital ascribes to the high standards of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). As an AAHA-accredited hospital, we belong to a distinguished group comprised of less than 20% of veterinary hospitals in the United States.
Summary of Internship
Working at the Secaucus Animal Hospital is an excellent experience in the background of veterinary medicine. Tasks include: developing x-rays, filling out prescriptions for patients, blood work, and adding patient data to their file. On the job I also learned the proper and humane way to hold and handle animals so the doctor could do a routine exam. I had the opportunity to watch different kinds of surgeries on patients. The Secaucus Animal Hospital has an experience team of professionals who broadened my experience with animals. Anyone who wants to explore a background of veterinary medicine, this is the internship for you.
