Mentor(s):Ms. Judy Aronson
Topic of Internship
Non - Profit
The Dr. John Grieco Memorial Scholarship Fund (JGSF) is a student run organization that gives scholarships annually to four students from both the Dwight Morrow High School and the Academies @ Englewood. It was founded after the passing of the great Dr. John Grieco who was the superintendent of the Englewood Public School District. The scholarship fund not only provides monetary needs to worthy students but also fills our school with exciting annual events. Englewood Idol and Diversity Day are two of the exciting activities of the group sponsors in which all of the students on the campus can participate in. The JGSF brings the campus together to accomplish one goal; continue the dream of Dr. John Grieco.
Summary of Internship
There are so many things that go into making the JGSF a success. Some of the tasks include grant writing, mass mailings, accounting, public speaking, stuffing envelopes, and some clerical work just to name a few. You have to have an open mind and be very organized. Every little detail counts. An internship with the JGSF is a great experience because you see how a small non-profit organization operates. As an intern you are not only responsible for the work you do, but also for the success of everything that you contributed to. You have to keep a bigger picture in mind when you work for the JGSF. You are helping someone further their education thus making them a better person. You canít be too proud to beg because you need help from others, but you become more grateful for everything that you have in life. If you love to work with people and help out the greater good, working for the JGSF is the place for you.
