Background Information

For many years, Lincoln Elementary School has served an up-scale education to the children of Englewood, New Jersey. It’s a place where children are pushed day by day to reach their fullest potential, while establishing their educational fundamentals. The building is filled not only with talented students, but with a very kind and caring staff who tend to the needs of each and every child. The principal, Marsha Howard, says, “The environment of our school and each classroom must be a setting where students feel safe, emotionally and physically in order for learning and achievement to be at its optimum. This happens through the efforts of Lincoln’s staff who design classrooms where the ideas, creations, attempts, personalities, families and accomplishments are encouraged and celebrated.” This statement proves the idea that actions speak louder than words, because every day the students at Lincoln learn more and more. These students are very motivated and willing to learn everyday they step into their classroom.

Summary of Internship

As an intern at Lincoln Elementary, I feel honored to work with a group of kind and talented teachers. I am able to learn from them and in return use the skills I develop now, in my future. The best part is that I am not treated as an intern, but instead as one of them. I am “Ms. Correa” when I walk in each Thursday, which really makes me feel as part of the Lincoln family. My experience at Lincoln includes, making up study guides, helping out around the classroom, and overall enlightening the minds of the students. The work is continuous, and in the end it will all benefit me. I hope to one day become a school administrator, and as an intern I am beginning to pave the way to that dream.
