PM&R is a diagnostic and treatment facility. The staff at PM&R puts an emphasis on non-operative treatments including physical therapy, occupational therapy, patient education, and body mechanics. The facility in which I am interning opened in 2006 in Englewood New Jersey. It is staffed with physiatrists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, massage therapist, nutritionists, and sports psychologist.

Summary of Internship

During my junior year I had experienced some sport injuries that led me to becoming a patient at PM&R. I really enjoyed the people and gain a lot of interest in the field of physical therapy. As an intern at PM&R I was given a lot of opportunities. I have learned a lot about the field of physical therapy and the countless conditions it can treat. I have had the chance to observe physical therapists work with patients and then with my mentor, the fitness supervisor. My favorite part of my internship was watching patient progress. I have seen patients with crippling injuries walking out of PM&R a few months later. I have gained much unexpected knowledge because of my internship.
