Summary of Internship
As an intern at the office of Congressman Steven Rothman in Hackensack, New Jersey, I have been handed the responsibility of managing several office tasks. For the most part, one of my most important responsibilities has been dealing with the congressmanís constituents through phone calls. I answer phones at the office, record constituent complaints, as well as opinions, and ultimately transfer constituent cases to caseworkers within the office. However, in the grand scheme of things, my main role at the office is to observe and learn. Through dealing directly with the people in my community, I have truly gained an understanding of how our local state governments work, and how they all relate to the federal government. The office of Congressman Rothman is a great place for anyone looking to gain insight into the everyday operations of the US government.
