Summary of Internship
My internship takes place in the Radiology and Imaging Department at the Hospital for Special Surgery. It is more like a job every Thursday at HSS, as my title is Patient Care Assistant Intern. Every Thursday I go to the floor manager to receive paperwork of the patients to be processed for the day. After I receive the papers, I go to the waiting room, call for the patient and tell them what they have to do to continue the X-ray process. I also help with transporting patients to various departments within radiology. I have become familiar with medical terms related to the X-rays so that I can let the X-ray tech know important information about the patient. This experience has moved me into considering Radiology as a career.
