Summary of Internship
I began my internship as a courier and occasionally do courier work when needed. I delivered medicine, blood, and charts to different parts of the hospital. This work helped me to get familiar with the hospital and where everything was located. I also did task in the morning which included serving lunch to and making appointments for cancer patients, making charts, and doing paperwork. This also helped me get acquainted with patients as well as employees at the hospital. After a few months, I transferred into the Pediatric Department. Here, I started off cleaning up playrooms and waiting areas. After a while, I was able to communicate and play with children at the hospital. We even helped the kids make paper goodie bags for devastated children affected by the earthquake in Haiti. By spending time with the children, Iíve learned how to communicate and interact with children who are ill. This technique would help me in the future when I become a registered nurse. Also the courier and office work have taught me how to conduct myself in a hospital setting and I will certainly use these skills in the future.
