Topic of Internship
Optical and Antenna Research/ Electrical Engineering
NJIT is New Jersey's science and Technology University. NJIT offers 92 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in six specialized schools instructed by expert faculty, 98 percent of whom hold the highest degree in their field. NJIT offers extensive Continuing and Professional Education programs as well; online courses for professionals already on the job and competitive industry internships is only a few of these programs. The NJIT Campus is located in the University Heights district of downtown Newark, just 20 minutes from Manhattan by train.
Summary of Internship
My project is entitled, "Periodic Structures for Far-infrared Applications". My goal is to design periodic metal structures (screens) for the study antennas in the far-infrared region. The structures may behave as optical filters, as well. For that purpose, I have used a computer aided design (CAD) tool (CST by Microwave Studio) to model and run simulations of various structures and compared the spectra of the output to the incoming electrometric wave.
