Summary of Internship
My internship provides me with a first-hand opportunity to observe and learn from present dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants. The field of dentistry comes to life once I walk into the office and put on the white lab jacket given to me by my mentor. Through observation and discussion, I have learned about various dental cosmetic procedures, such as teeth whitening, bonding, bridges, crowns, dental implants, teeth impressions, constructing natural porcelain veneers, and much more. I complete tasks such as scheduling and confirming patient appointments, filing important paperwork, and organizing patient charts. Additionally, I receive hands-on learning when I assist with taking x rays and impressions of the patients teeth. Even though I want to become a pediatric dentist and my interests are not focused in the area of cosmetic dentistry, the knowledge I gain at my internship strengthens my desire to become successful in life. From the interactions with the patients to the discussions with the specialists, my urge to help others and conduct dental procedures remains unchangeable.
