Summary of Internship

As an intern at Salient Associates, I am exposed to different tasks relating in the architectural area. I perform different tasks; some of which may seem not important as such filing papers to being trusted enough to make corrections to document information on the site that is being worked on. Due to the economy the firm is currently working on mostly telecommunication projects. My first couple weeks at the office were a bit hard though there weren’t many tasks that I could actually perform since I lacked experience in AutoCAD (Auto Computer Aided Design). I had to familiarize myself with the software so I would be able to complete legitimate assignments. One of my mentors, Maroun, assigned me a little project to get me used to the program. The project consisted of my designing a floor plan for a house. I played around with the program and followed an employee’s textbook which helped me learn the basics. If I was given assignments I didn’t understand something most of the employees were very helpful and understanding. From my experience at Salient Associates, I have learned broaden my knowledge in the field of architecture, I have even learned that even though the weather might be bad you still need to get out there and do what is required of your job.
