Summary of Internship
Medicine has come to be a part of our everyday life. The job of a pharmacist is crucial to the process of treating sick patients. The appropriate type of medication can make a difference between life and death. Therefore utmost attention and caution must be used when performing tasks in the Pharmacy Department at Palisades Medical Center. Unlike other pharmacy internships, the internship at PMC provides the intern an opportunity for hands-on learning. Instead of simply looking at a book about different types of medications, interns are given the opportunity to actually see the drugs on the shelves and learn about them as they fill the patient cassettes according to the physicians’ orders. Daily duties may include filling cassettes with medication for each patient, labeling the cassettes, compounding drugs for injection in the IV room, and delivering medication to the different patient care areas. As an intern, your assistance during the morning rush will greatly be appreciated by the kind and helpful staff that is always there to answer any questions. If you would like to pursue a career in the pharmacy field, then an internship at Palisades Medical Center Pharmacy Department is the first step in this direction.
