Summary of Internship
I obtained my internship through my mom since she and Mr. Hecht have known one
another quite a number of years.I believed that the accounting internship would help me in
all aspects of business. During my internship,I learned the basics; such as how to use
QuickBooks, and other accounting software, Lotus and Excel, which are both electronic
worksheets that can be used for data entry. The accounting software can be used to prepare
and print checks and summaries of accounting activities and to view and review the income
or loss of a business as well as its assets, liabilities and capital. The electronic worksheets
can be used for payroll, sales tax and many other activities.
During my internship at Hecht, DiMarco, I will have learned how to prepare tax returns and
to complete bank reconciliations. As an intern, I worked on the books of a New York retail
business engaged in wine and liquor sales. I basically did everything for the company from
bank reconciliationto summaries of payroll. At this internship,I learned so much about the
accounting field. I learned the different types of tax forms and who can use them. My
internship helped me understand accounting and from gaining more experience it taught
me that I might pursue this in the future. I hope to use what I learned in my college studies
and mv future career.
