Summary of Internship
At Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc., unlike most students, I had an internship at which I rotated between different divisions of the firm in Elmwood Park. To start, I was placed into a Site/Civil Engineering group. After that, I worked with an Environmental Engineering group, and to finish the year, I worked with a Geotechnical Engineering group. In October, when I started, since I was still new to Langan and the office, I learned all the basic office work that one needs to know while working in an office. I learned how to make copies, scan documents, and work with large sheet files commonplace in the engineering world. Later on, I worked with AutoCAD a lot, helping my group do arbitrary tasks that needed to be done in order to start working on projects. Also, I got to go and see some actual sites that the engineers were working on, such as a groundwater treatment system and an abandoned matress warehouse property that a client of Langan's was thinking about purchasing. I was able to visit the New Meadowlands Stadium where a groundwater assessment was being done, too. Interning at Langan was a great experience, and I’d recommend it for anyone interested in the field of Engineering.
