Background Information

Larry Katz and Herb Wolfe founded Zenith Dental in 1983, which is now known as DMG America. It is located in Englewood, New Jersey. The initial business focus was on the sales and distribution of quality private-label products. Mr. Katz foresaw the growing industry interest in esthetic dentistry and turned the company’s attention to high-end restorative materials. DMG America is the visionary company behind some of dentistry’s best-known restorative products, and has become known as the “Automix Specialists.” Its leading role in Automix products began over a decade ago with the release of Luxatemp®, the first automix provisional restorative material. Clinician involvement has not only led to many innovative products, but has also resulted in the development of cutting-edge dental techniques and unique applications for these materials.

Summary of Internship

As an intern at DMG America, I was able to explore the world of dentistry from a marketer’s point of view. During my time here at DMG, I attended one of many dental tradeshows held nationwide. At the trade show, I learned numerous positive and negative marketing strategies. Going to the trade show was a tremendous experience and helped me understand the marketing aspect of the company, which helped me realize where all our hard work in the office goes. In the office, I would check, update, and enter names into the customer database of our clients using Microsoft Access. I also worked with the shipping department to help package and ship orders to our sales representatives and dentists all over the country. Aside from all the work I did in the office, my mentor gave me training modules every other month. During my free time, I would work on these presentations that taught me about dentistry, our products, our competitors, and other aspects that play a vital role to help marketers in the dental industry. Coming to my internship with a positive attitude and an open mind every week, helped me learn many skills and how essential they are in the business world. Hoping to pursue a career in marketing, I am confident that everything I accomplished at DMG America is going to help me in the future.
