Summary of Internship
Being an intern at the Englewood Health Department gave me the unique opportunity to see the various aspects of what being a Public Health educator really means. While within the comforting and welcoming environment of the Public Health Department, some of the tasks were very tedious such as editing letterheads and reading various public health documents; doing multiple PowerPoint’s and Word documents. Read and review local newspaper articles and journals that are pertinent to the adolescent population of Englewood. Browse web-sites to keep abreast of new adolescent health issues or topics. Help conduct street or school health education outreach. Attend conferences, workshops, and trainings with the Youth Health Educator (YHE).Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required to accomplish the objectives of the position or as assigned by the Youth Health Education (YHE). My attendance, participation, and contributions were always desired and I was able to get an unbelievable education experience. I was taught valuable lessons that will benefit me in the future, for which I will be forever thankful.
