Summary of Internship

Every Thursday, I have the unique opportunity of gaining real workplace experience instead of learning in a traditional classroom, as an intern at Winebow Inc. Each Thursday morning, I immediately sit down at my desk, where my computer and personalized helpdesk phone are exactly as I left them the week before, and promptly check for any emails or helpdesk tickets that may be waiting for my arrival. Upon completing these basic tasks, one of my mentors will either assign me a job, or invite me to observe beside them at their desk. As time passes and my mentors begin to see my skills and improvements, it is becoming more and more apparent that they are now trusting me to do less observing, and more working. During my time as an intern, I learn various things, ranging from the undeniable importance of technology in a large company, proper helpdesk procedures and appropriate communication skills, to the different kinds of software and equipment utilized by employees of Winebow. The most important thing I learn, however, is gaining a genuine feel of what it is really like to work in the professional world. As the weeks pass, I find myself becoming more familiar with the material being presented to me, and building positive relationships with my intelligent coworkers and mentors. This is an incredibly rewarding experience, and one in which I am truly grateful for.
