Summary of Internship

As an intern at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, I have the opportunity to truly experience the medical field and what being a Doctor and Nurse is like. Interning in this department, I learn something new every Thursday. Whether is how to calculate a medicines dosage for the baby or weigh its diaper. Interning in this department, I have the experience to see baby deliveries cesarean and natural birth, blood cultures, IVís being given, spinal tap, urine sample test, well babies and more. Also, to see infants as small as two pounds grow into a normal healthy weight is a great experience. As an intern in the NICU at EHMC my duties are to make IV packets, admission packets, discharge packets, filling each babyís bed with blankets and diapers. Assisting the nurses with anything they need me to and most importantly learn and observe. Interning in this department I learn that the Nurses and Doctors have to be very humble and patient. This internship is a great experience.
