Summary of Internship

Interning at the Law Office of Maggiano, DiGirolamo & Lizzi provided me with the opportunity to understand the details and composite of a law firm firsthand. There are a lot of roles and responsibilities of people in a law office that arenít actually publicized. Lawyers donít simply take cases and go to court every day out of the year. Iíve sat in on client meetings and depositions, as well as, attended arbitrations and settlement conferences. While Iíve been given the opportunity to shadow my mentor at those exciting events, Iíve also had days where Iíve sat in the office and assisted him. Iíve written letters, made phone calls, created medical memos, tabbed medical records, made copies, and taken notes on important facets of documents. Iíve done the work of both an attorney and a paralegal and my efforts have always been beneficial. Never once has there been nothing for me to do at all and time has always been invested in teaching me something new about the law. Iíve truly been made to feel like one of the employees here and treated with respect and equality. This comfortable and hospitable environment has given me a number of skills which will certainly be of use in the future, and for that I am very appreciative of everyone here at Maggiano, DiGirolamo & Lizzi.
