Company/Organization: Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund
Topic of Internship
The Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund was founded in 2004, after the death of Englewood Superintendent Dr. John Grieco. Because of the donations made by administrators, teachers, and parents, the Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund was created. The goal of the scholarship fund is to raise money each year to give out $22,000 in scholarships to students who attend Dwight Morrow High School and the Academies@Englewood. The money is raised in many different ways, such as Englewood Idol, Diversity day, selling food, car washes, Winter Grieco Games, etc. While the organization is run by Judy Aronson, hundreds of students are involved in the scholarship fund and many have leadership positions as well.
Summary of Internship
Whenever I walk into Mrs. Aronsonís door, I can never know what it is I am going to have to do. My tasks range from writing thank you letters to sponsors, to teaching students video software, to making calls to help setup important events, to using my computer skills to help Mrs. Aronson. Whatever tasks I need to do, I always know that they are important and have great significance behind them. Since the tasks are important, I always ensure that I try my hardest and imagine how my mentor would want it done especially since she could be meticulous. During my tasks I manage my time wisely. If there is anything I can take from my internship, it is time management and organization. I never have only one thing to do, I must ensure I can finish all my tasks by the time they are due. This internship isnít simply making copies and calling people, itís making moves to ensure the scholarship runs smoothly and our main events are successful.
