Summary of Internship
I intern for the Biomedical Engineering Department at the Hackensack University Medical Center which is responsible for repairing, servicing, and replacing all the equipment in the hospital. Hospital equipment can be considered any machine involved with any aspect of patient care. The equipment ranges from harmless flat screens in the nursing units to bone saws for surgery. The Biomedical Engineering department of HUMC is one of the most important in the hospital. It is here that I learned various theories and hands-on, technical skills related to machines that I see as a doctor in the future. I strongly suggest looking into this internship if you’re even slightly interested in either medicine or engineering.
