Located in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, Nursery Rhymes Preschool and Kindergarten provides children with a warm, loving, and caring atmosphere in which devoted teachers foster an appetite for learning in their pupils. This state licensed childcare facility plays a vital role in the intellectual, physical, mental, and emotional development of its students, who range between the ages of 2 ˝ through kindergarten. For many children, this may be their first experience in the classroom before entering the primary grades. Nursery Rhymes, with its passionate and caring staff, prepares its students for a lifetime of further learning and academic success. Since its establishment in 1954, Nursery Rhymes has and continues to provide children with the best preschool experience they can have and they grow and develop to reach their fullest potential.

Summary of Internship

Every Thursday, I have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with talented young minds in a Pre-K 4 classroom. As an intern at Nursery Rhymes, I assist in a wide range of daily activities which include things like teaching small group lessons for math and language arts, helping with art projects, doing “Show-n-Tell,” leading educational games with the children, and supervising playtime. Each week brings new curriculum and challenges, thus, my internship is truly interesting and lively. My mentor and coworkers are incredibly approachable and available to ask for feedback or instruction. As time progresses, my experiences at Nursery Rhymes have enabled me to better handle more responsibility in the classroom. During my time as an intern I have learned a great variety of things regarding the development of young children, how to present new material to different types and groups of students and how to best manage and control a classroom. The most important thing I glean, however, is the unique experience of working with young children, an opportunity which will prove truly beneficial in the years to come as I pursue a career in education. As my time at Nursery Rhymes continues, I find myself cooperatively interacting with my coworkers and mentors to provide a caring environment in which student can grow and learn. I am incredibly grateful to have such a rewarding experience though this internship.
