Summary of Internship

At the Valley Hospital, I was able to experience and work in two rotations of my choice, the Mother/Baby Department and ICU Department. I chose these two departments mainly because I was struggling with deciding what I wanted to do in the future. This helped be because I was in the exact departments that I could be working in the future and it helped me gain an idea of what I preferred. In the Mother/Baby department, I mostly shadowed nurses and doctors to get a feel of their day. Most of the time, I saw patients and viewed procedures, which I really enjoyed. I felt very comfortable in this setting because all of the staff members were always welcoming and encouraged participation. In the ICU department, I followed predominantly nurses which I felt gave me a better outlook. The doctors are very busy and not always in the hospital, so being with a nurse always kept me busy, while learning new things. All in all, my time interning at the Valley Hospital was extremely valuable because of the variety and quality of the things I learned.
