While the head office is located in Toronto, Canada, other offices can be found in New York City, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, as well as various places throughout Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

Summary of Internship

Aside from coming into a friendly and helpful environment every Thursday morning, the opportunity to intern at Scotiabank is both educational and enlightening as to what corporate America and the global industry are really like. Located in the core of the financial district, my experience at this internship has widened far beyond the walls of Scotiabank and introduced me to the surrounding New York Stock Exchange and dozens of other banks that are part of the global economy. My tasks range from the basics; including reinforcing settlements, filing OFAC, copying, and scanning, to the more hands-on experiences such as learning how to make settlements in Clearstream and assisting on individual projects. During my several months at Scotiabank, I have been taught various useful Excel tricks that are used daily, such as V-lookup, pivot tables, filtering, and concatenate. So far it has been a great experience and honor to work so closely with Scotia employees who allow and encourage me to learn firsthand all aspects of the business world. The environment is professional which has allowed me to learn proper business etiquette, yet friendly and comfortable which allowed me to have a great learning experience.
