Summary of Internship
As a High SchoolIntern in the Volunteer Services Department at HackensackUMC, I perform errands that greatly contribute to the success of patient satisfaction. Errands include delivering blood from the blood bank to different unitsfor their patients in need of blood;setting up stretchers in the Emergency & Trauma Center, and light office work in the pediatrics department. The benefit of working with the volunteer office is that you are able to get a glimpse of several departments in the hospital. Some departments that I have come across are: cytology, pathology, telemetry, pulmonary, and microbiology. This internship is ideal if a person is yet not sure what specialty they would like to study in. Volunteering at the hospital is a great experience for not only learning but also helping others along the way.
